All TIE workshops focus on using the newspaper successfully in the classroom
as well as specific programs. Hands-on activities are offered across the
curriculum. Teachers receive a handbook of activities and information
on how to order newspapers and educational supplements.
January 14, 2006: "The Hero's Journey"
What do mining and forestry have in common? How are agriculture and energy
interrelated? How do the natural and built environments impact each other?
And how do all of these relate to earth's systems of energy, matter, and
life? Explore the interconnectedness of these systems and strands, using
information from many of Arizona's natural resource providers. Karen Schedler
and Sandy Reith from the Arizona Department of Game & Fish and Project
Wild will answer these questions and more. This workshop will be held at
the Wildlife Building at the Arizona State Fairgrounds, 17th Ave. and McDowell
in Phoenix. Enter parking lot from the 19th Avenue entrance. Free parking
for the workshop.

April 22, 2006: "The Law"
Attorney Robert Walston will facilitate this workshop. Teachers will learn
the basic precepts of the justice system and work through a mock court situation
like the one students will experience. Mr. Walston is respected in the community
and has won awards for his pro bono work. This should help teachers prepare
fully to work with this supplement. Workshop will be held at Ottawa University’s
Ahwatukee Campus, 10429 S. 51st St., Phoenix.

May: 4, 2006: "TIE Annual Teacher and Sponsor Recognition Dinner"

Come have a lovely dinner on us! There is no charge for this evening. It is our gift to you. Every year TIE brings teachers and sponsors together for the evening. Share with sponsors the wonderful work you have been doing with newspapers and tabs all year and thank them for their financial support. We also name a TIE Teacher of the Year at the annual dinner.
